Having fun Mile 2

Mickey’s Jingle Jungle 5K was my 12th runDisney event, 14th runDisney medal of 2013 and one of my favorite races of the year, second only to the Inaugural Disneyland 10K!  Running with me this weekend, was my husband and some of my favorite runDisney running buddies!

What made this runDisney Family Fun Run 5K so much fun?!!  I believe it was the Christmas theme, the snow at the start and running through Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

163Mickey’s Jingle Jungle 5K start and finish were in Animal Kingdom’s parking lot.  The course ran through the Oasis to Discovery Island to Africa and then on to Asia.  Here we went backstage and then ran back out to the parking lot to the finish line.

We stopped at every single character stop – 7 in all!  The character lines were long, but since it was a “fun run” we were waiting for our photo ops!   Unfortunately, by the time we finished waiting in all the character stops the “sweepers” were hot on our tails and we had to run in order not to get swept!

171All in all, Mickey’s Jingle Jungle 5K is a NOT TO BE MISSED runDisney 5K!  It is was fun, festive and fabulously Christmas-y!  I’d run it again in a heartbeat!!

5 Tips for Mickey’s Jingle Jungle 5K

  1. Dress the Part:  Holidays are the theme so put on your best red and green!
  2. Look for Surprises:  Where else can you see SNOW at the start of the race (in Florida)?!!
  3. Take Your Time:  It’s not timed, so take your time to stop to pose with the Holiday Themed Characters!
  4. Everyone is Welcomed:  runDisney’s fun run 5K’s are open to the entire family, all shapes, and all abilities.  So get a group together because that’s what makes these events fun.  Plan to run with your family and friends!

  1. I was totally regretting not having registered for this race, I LOVE the Christmas theme and all the great costumes! Next year for sure! : )

  2. It was nice to see you at the expo ( sorry if I caught you off guard)!
To be honest, I really didn’t have high expectations for the Jingle Jungle 5k, but boy was I wrong. I would definitely do it again ( and hope maybe some day my husband will run with me like yours does). It assumed that was snow at the beginning of the start line, although it looked a lot more like just smoke!

  3. The “snow” is some sort of soap and that was pretty cool! And don’t feel bad that your husband doesn’t run with you. Mine is only running 5K’s with me because I have breast cancer – seriously it’s the only reason.
