INAUGURAL TINKER BELL 10K
This year will be my first runDisney Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend! I have had the privilege to run the races at the Disneyland Half Marathon before and am excited to see the similarities and differences in the Health and Wellness Expo, course and vibe.
I’ll be running back to back weekends, having just completed the Walt Disney World Marathon’s Dopey Challenge. I plan on running the Neverland Family Fun Run 5K, Tinker Bell 10K and Tinker Bell Half Marathon, but am most looking forward to the 10K.
The Disneyland Inaugural 10K was one of my favorites, if not my FAVORITE races of 2013, and the 10K course is shaping up to be a contender. Here is the course description and map:
10K Course Description
The course for this race is full of adventure and will begin on Disneyland Drive where runners will fly under Downtown Disney® on their way into Disneyland® Park. Runners will get a peek backstage on their way to Critter Country and around the Rivers of America before racing through the enchantment of Fantasyland, the future of Tomorrowland, and continuing down the famed Main Street, U.S.A. After Disneyland® Park, it’s into Disney California Adventure® Park where runners will soar through Condor Flats, wind around the glistening bay of Paradise Pier, cruise down Route 66 into Cars Land, and experience the glitz and glamour of the Park’s Hollywood Land. Runners will then take a short flight around the Anaheim GardenWalk, and past the Anaheim Convention Center before returning to the Disneyland® Resort. Upon landing at the finish line, near Disney California Adventure® Hotel, runners will receive a medal fit for a pixie.
It seems that the course is backwards from the Disneyland 10K course. One noticeable difference is that we will NOT be running through Sleeping Beauty Castle – very disappointed about this! Never-the-less, the Tinker Bell 10K will give the runner an abundance of park time – both behind the scenes and in both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure – which is really why we run these races anyway! And again, there only seems to be 2 water spots for the 10K. If you remember, there were water stop issues during the Disneyland 10K, but that was because of weather and the running of the 5K prior. Regardless, the Tinker Bell Half Marathon week is right around the corner and I for one cannot wait to fun this new runDisney event!
