I was invited to attend the BOKS Active Kids Day event at Reebok Headquarters in Canton, Massachusetts last weekend with my family.
BOKS (Build Our Kids’ Success), is a free before-school physical activity program designed to jump-start kids’ brains and prepare them for a day of learning. The program combines play, physical activity, team games and short talks on nutrition to create healthier habits for children to achieve life-long fitness. Started in 2009 by a group of moms in Natick, Massachusetts, BOKS is supported in nearly 1,000 schools and communities worldwide, with research validating that exercise, especially before school, can have an impact on classroom performance and behavior.
“We live in a world where kids have limited opportunities to be physically active which can lead to increased obesity, metal health issues and poor academics. We are thrilled to host the third annual Active Kids Day, and bring communities, schools and families together to get active, learn and celebrate the importance of healthier habits,” said Kathleen Tullie, BOKS founder and executive director. The BOKS Active Kids Day was a free event designed to bring together the entire family, schools and businesses to celebrate the positive impacts of physical activity and living a healthy lifestyle.
The day offered many activities such One-mile Fun Run, live music, Spartan Kids Race, Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman, Celtic experience, field games, Reebok shopping, food samplings, Super Sprowtz shows, and bouncy houses.
Reebok graciously sent us a pair of ZQuick Electrify shoes, a pair of tights and a fun tech top for the event. I thought I would be really hot wearing the running tights and tech, but both provided enough ventilation to keep me cool and comfortable on the hot, sunny day.
The ZQuick Electrify shoes were very comfortable. We all loved the design and bright colors. My children loved the light-weight feel of the shoes when they ran. I liked the balanced, fast-feel of the shoes. I found them breathable, light, and flexible, but still with enough cushioning to provide support the entire day! Reebok’s ZQuick Electrify shoes for adults will be available on July 1st, but kids sizes are available now on Reebok.com.
My kids and I had such a wonderful time at BOKS Active Kids Day. My husband and I are striving to instill the values of physical activity and nutrition in our children. Celebrating the important of being active with an event like this helps to reinforce this message. Thank you Reebok for a great outing!
