During mile 10 of the 2010 Hartford Marathon, I was passed by an older gentleman. On the back of his shirt said, “50 Marathons in 50 States.” However, it was crossed out and written above was the word “TWICE.”

It was at that moment I knew I needed to accomplish the same goal. While tallying and planning my Full Marathon calendar, I realized that I also have been racking up Half Marathons in different States as well …

GOAL 1: Complete 50 Full Marathons in 50 States by the time I’m 50. Completed marathon that is part of a 140.6 Ironman will also count towards this goal.

Completed Full Marathons:

  1. Florida: 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 Walt Disney World Marathon
  2. Connecticut: 2010, 2011 Hartford Marathon
  3. Delaware: 2012 Delaware Marathon
  4. Vermont: 2012 Shires of Vermont
  5. New Hampshire: 2012 Clarence DeMar
  6. Virginia: 2012 Marine Corps – Part I, 2012 Marine Corps – Part II
  7. Ohio: 2013 Flying Pig 4-way – Marathon, 5K and 10K
  8. Illinois:  2013 Chicago Marathon
  9. New York:  2013 New York City Marathon

GOAL 2: Complete 50 Half Marathons in 50 States and Washington, DC by the time I’m laid to rest. Completed half marathon that is part of a 70.3 Half Ironman will also count towards this goal.

  1. I have the same goal of running all 50 states! I also ran the Fairfield Half and will be running the Disneyland Half in September…hope to see you there!

  2. That’s awesome! I look forward to meeting up with you someday! I have 4 additional fulls planned for this year – Lehigh (Pa), Chicago (IL), Nike (CA) and NYC. This is an expensive goal.
